A few years ago, some friends from the food world went on a trip to Shiner, Texas to have a picnic in a church. I was still in New York at the time, and I was disappointed that I couldn’t join them because I always enjoy a big church congregation focused on food. Church food has long been a subject of interest, from potlucks to pancake dinners and from Frito cakes to Sunday school donuts. . .
