Texas Tech goes hunting for bears: Texas Tech defeated Baylor 65-62 in Waco

Texas Tech has proved unthinkable. They went to Waco without their best player and beat Baylor Bears No. 1 65-62

I won’t lie to you, this is the last thing I’ve been waiting for, but damn Tech did it. This is one of the record books. These are some of the immediate reactions of our staff to the phenomenal game.

Kendall Phipps: Gentlemen. Just wow. I could never expect this. Not only did Tech go and compete, they won. Tech has just set out without his best player and won the damn game. This is one for history books. Tech was clearly elite throughout the defense and didn’t give Baylor a chance in the second half. When this team is in full force, Big 12 must be careful.

Tech came up with the idea that no one expected them to be close, not even Vegas. 40 minutes later and boom, Tech leaves Waco with W. Stop doubting the Red Raiders.

Jack Bell: Incredible. It’s always been Mark Adams, hasn’t it? Tech is constantly amassing courageous performances and I really don’t see a better defensive basketball team at the conference, I dare say right now in the country. Davion Warren had two huge free throws, and MSS played clutch defense all night. I also have to talk about Adonis Arms. What performance from Winthrop transfer (Get Wrecked Mayer). Kevin McCullar was also huge tonight, along with Bryson Williams and Kevin Obanor.

In the last four days, Mark Adams has managed to come up with two fantastic game plans, and the team has implemented them almost to perfection. My statistics of the night are that Tech becomes the third team in five years to take 15th place and win the game and join the SFA (Duke) and BYU (Gonzaga). Celebrate tonight. Get ready for OKST. from tomorrow.

Michael Macon: Damn, what a return! For more serious analysis, GET WRECKED BAYLOR! Well, it was actually an incredible defensive performance and I want to make sure we don’t forget MSS here. Nadolny, McCullar, Williams, Obanor, and Arms deservedly gained a lot of attention, but MSS was insane tonight, defending Baylor’s very good guards.

Chris Salazar: What a win for this program. Just when you thought maybe Tech needed to be fully healthy to compete like Baylor, they performed like that!

With Shannon, hopefully on the right track, this team is trying to collect winnings and move up the leaderboard.

Jimi Spadewick: I know we’re joking that Coach Adams is fighting a bear, especially when he wasn’t even a real bear. Adams took the Red Raiders to enemy territory and won the fight against the Bears. Adams is a warrior!

His loved ones knew that Coach Adams was a fighter. Don’t be fooled by his calm demeanor. Adams is a killer and basketball champion. Adams can train! The world finds out when we talk.

Enjoy a night of Red Raiders! Enjoy it! The future of Tech Basketball is in perfect hands.
