At least 15 athletes tested positive for COVID-19 at the Indian Sports Authority, here South Center.
Sources said that as many as seven cases were recorded on December 30, while on January 4, eight were recorded, mostly among jumpers and runners on medium and long distances. It is understood that the situation is now under control, although further cases cannot be ruled out.
The center experienced hectic sports activities last month, with the Inter-University Men’s Hockey Championship in the Southern Zone and the Indian Open National National Athletics Championships.
The resort also hosts national camps for hockey and athletics, among other disciplines.
On Wednesday, the Indian Sports Authority updated the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all its centers amid the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
