The fastest and slowest parkrune in 2022

Victoria Dock regains first place in the list of fastest parkrun events in the United Kingdom compiled by statistics Tim Grose

Victoria Dock in central London was again ranked as the fastest parkrun in the UK, with Great Yarmouth North Beach being the slowest.

Victoria Dock is considered to be slightly faster than the new event at Storey’s Field near Cambridge, followed by Aberbeeg in South Wales, Watermead Country Park near Leicester and Sutcliffe in south-east London.

The leaderboard regularly compiles Power of 10 and RunBritain Tim Grose stats using the standard golf style erasure score (or SSS).

The fast or slow nature of each track depends on the difficulty of the terrain and undulations, the typical weather, the busy nature of the event and whether the track is slightly shorter or longer than the advertised distance of 5 km.

Victoria Dock topped the 2018 rankings we published here, but a new list just before the Covid pandemic broke out in early 2020 saw Berkeley Green – a park near a disused power plant in Gloucestershire – briefly knocked down Victoria Dock from the first partitions as you can see here.

Victoria Dock is now back at number 1, despite the fact that she has several “dead corners” where runners lose momentum to slow down and run 180 degrees around the bollard. But as Grose says in the listings video, the difference between the top fastest odds is minimal.
